Instructions
Original Stovetop Method
- In a saucepan, add milk and sugar.
- Heat the mixture over low to medium heat. Stir constantly at first to make sure the sugar completely dissolves.
- Allow the milk to simmer gently. Stir every five minutes to prevent a film from forming on top or the bottom from burning.
- Continue to cook for at least 45 minutes. You will notice the milk level gradually decreasing as the liquid evaporates.
- Keep a close eye on it to ensure it doesn't scorch on the bottom.
- Turn off the heat once the mixture has a light beige color and a thick, syrupy consistency. It will thicken even more as it cools.
- While the mixture is still hot, pour it through a fine-mesh sieve to catch any small clumps or particles.
- Store the finished condensed milk in an airtight jar in the refrigerator.
Quick Blender Method
- In a blender, add powdered milk, sugar, boiling hot water, and butter.
- Blend on high speed for 30-60 seconds until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.
- Pour into a jar. This version can be used immediately or stored in the refrigerator.
