The wheat grains are to be rinsed and soaked for one hour.

Place the soaked wheat in a pot, cover it with the water, and let it boil for 30 to 45 minutes until the grain is tender.

Add the vanilla, sugar, and coconut flakes to the pot.

As the wheat gets closer to being fully cooked, pour in the milk and allow the grains to continue cooking in the milk until they are very tender.

Add the cream (qishta) and the rest of the milk.

Dissolve the cornstarch in a small amount of water or cold milk, and add it to the pot.

Stir the mixture until the desired thick and creamy consistency is achieved. Serve the Ashura hot or cold, garnished as desired.
