In a small pan, melt a little butter over medium heat and add the dates. Mash them well while cooking until they become soft and smooth.
Transfer the mashed dates into a small baking dish.
Prepare a light cream sauce by cooking milk with a little butter and flour until it becomes slightly thick, then add one tablespoon of sugar.
Pour the sauce over the dates in the baking dish.
Add caramel sauce on top, or simply sprinkle a spoon of sugar over the surface.
Place the dish under the oven grill and bake for about 15 minutes until the top becomes lightly golden.
