Instructions
In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs with vanilla, orange zest, and sugar until light and creamy.
Add oil, orange juice, and milk, mixing until combined.
Gradually fold in the flour, semolina, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Mix until a smooth batter forms.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until fully cooked.
Allow the basbousa to cool completely before assembling.
Prepare the Custard
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the orange juice, cornstarch, and sugar.
Stir constantly until the mixture thickens and reaches a custard-like consistency.
Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
Assemble the Dessert
In the same baking pan, spread the orange custard under the cooled basbousa.
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until fully set.
