Instructions
-
In a bowl, combine the beef slices with black pepper, salt, 7-spice mix, and a drizzle of olive oil. Toss to coat and set aside.
-
Heat a skillet over high heat, add some vegetable oil, and sear the beef slices in batches until golden on both sides. Remove and set aside.
-
In the same skillet, add sliced onions, butter cubes, and a pinch of salt. Stir occasionally and add a splash of broth as needed to deglaze the pan. Cook until the onions are soft and caramelized.
-
Add minced garlic, the remaining 7-spice mix, rosemary sprig (optional), and flour to the caramelized onions. Stir until the flour disappears.
-
Gradually pour in 2 cups of broth while stirring, then add the pomegranate molasses. Return the seared beef slices to the skillet, ensuring they're submerged in the sauce.
-
Cover and simmer on low heat for about 20–30 minutes, allowing the beef to become tender and the sauce to thicken.
-
Garnish with fresh rosemary if desired, and serve hot with plain white rice or mashed potatoes.
