Peel and slice the apples and pears. Place them in a pot.

Cook this mixture on the stove for about 10 minutes until the fruit softens slightly and the flavors meld.
In a bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, powdered milk, a dash of salt, and sugar.
Add the cold, cubed butter. Using your fingertips, rub the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse sand.
