Instructions
In a small bowl, combine cornstarch with milk.
Stir well until dissolved and no lumps remain. Set this mixture aside.
In a saucepan, add full-fat milk, sugar, and vanilla.
Place the saucepan over low to medium heat. Stir occasionally.
Before the milk boils, when it feels warm to the touch, add unsweetened cocoa powder and salt (to enhance the flavor).
Whisk continuously until the cocoa is fully dissolved and there are no lumps.
Pour in the prepared cornstarch and milk mixture while continuously whisking.
Continue to whisk gently until the hot chocolate just comes to a boil. As soon as it starts bubbling, turn off the heat immediately.
Pour the hot chocolate into your favorite mugs. You can add whipped cream or marshmallows on top, and optionally use a kitchen torch to toast the marshmallows.
For an extra touch, grate some chocolate over the top.
