Chicken Shawarma
Chicken Shawarma
Description
Chicken Shawarma is a flavorful Middle Eastern dish featuring marinated chicken stacked and cooked to juicy perfection. The marinated chicken is traditionally cooked on a rotating spit, but this recipe offers alternative methods for home cooks.
Imagine tender, marinated chicken infused with warm spices like cumin, coriander, and turmeric. The chicken is then cooked until crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. Chicken Shawarma is typically served wrapped in warm pita bread with toppings like tahini sauce, chopped vegetables, and fresh herbs. It's a delicious and customizable meal that's perfect for a casual dinner party or a satisfying lunch.

Instructions
-
To marinate the chicken, slice the chicken breasts into thin slices. Place in a bowl and add the spices, lemon juice, yogurt, harissa chilli, salt and pepper. Mix together and let sit for a few hours.
-
To make the sauce, in a blender add the tahini, Safflowered lemons, olive oil, harissa chilli, water (plus or minus) depending on the desired consistency of the sauce. Blend until fully incorporated.
-
On a hot grill over heat, add some oil and the marinated chicken, saute until golden on all sides. Remove chicken, and on the same grill add diced onions and tomatoes, saute until wilted. Re-add chicken to the grill and stir all ingredients together. Turn off the heat and add the chopped parsley and a drizzle of the pre-made sauce.
