Instructions

  1. Start by cutting your brownie cake into small, even cubes. Set them aside.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the cherries, sugar, and water.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cherries soften and the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Remove the cherry compote from the heat and let it cool completely before assembling the trifle.
  5. Empty the sachets of chocolate-flavored whipped cream powder (or plain whipped cream powder + cocoa) into a mixing bowl.
  6. Add very cold milk. It's crucial that the milk is cold to ensure proper whipping.
  7. Using an electric mixer, beat the cream mixture thoroughly until it becomes thick and forms soft peaks. You can adjust the consistency by adding a tiny bit more milk if needed.
  8. In a clear trifle bowl or individual serving glasses, start with a layer of brownie cubes at the bottom.
  9. Spoon a generous amount of the cooled cherry compote over the brownie layer.
  10. Add a generous layer of the chocolate cream on top of the cherry compote.
  11. Repeat the layers (brownie, cherry compote, chocolate cream) until your bowl is full.
  12. Place the assembled trifle in the refrigerator for at least 2-4 hours to chill thoroughly. This allows the flavors to meld and the trifle to set.
  13. Serve chilled.
